In honor of Cervical Health Awareness month, the first Fierce Friday’s Winner of the year is Ms. Keoma all the way from Saint Maarten.
Keoma is the President and Founder of The KeLaHa Projects, a community-based non-profit organization that focuses on health awareness along with youth and educational development programs. The foundation’s key focus is informing women about HPV and Cervical Cancer. As the first and only Cervical Cancer and HPV awareness program in St. Maarten, Keoma was inspired to create the organization and bring attention to the issue after her mother was diagnosed and lost the battle to the disease. Since KeLaHa’s inception, Keoma has spearheaded many initiatives such as pushing the St. Maarten Government to launch the HPV vaccination in public schools. She is also a UN speaker and a brand ambassador for the Cancer Treatment Center of the Eastern Caribbean. I first met Keoma while attending a Women’s Entrepreneur Event at the UN and was amazed to see her speaking on a panel alongside diplomats while fearlessly rocking electric blue hair. I loved her daring personality and that she remained true to herself. Keoma’s funky style stands out from her counterparts, proving that you can stand for a cause and help others all while looking fly. For more information on the KeLaHa Projects click here. Ladies, be sure to get your annual check up because staying healthy is always en vogue.
